Agenda

Starting on October 6th, the group will meet 1st and 3rd Friday from 10:30 am -12:00 pm. Emphasis on survivors. The group meets one time each month. We begin with introductions of self and info about own stroke. Caregiver can speak for person with aphasia, if it is okay with survivor. wise, we listen. Focus is on sharing challenges of recovery, motivating to not give in to "the plateau." realize life has changed. Share experiences. All members were working up to day of stroke, even our eldest.20"speaker-information and interesting, but allow people to gather for support 40-50"-conversation-topic open to group input. This is the group support occasionally read article from stroke support or stroke connection and discuss.

Notes

Comprised of inpatients with new strokes and people with strokes 2-5 years ago. Inpatients share their trauma, survivors with longer periods of recovery pass on their tips, lessons learned and hopes for recovery. It's a good mix. Snacks and drinks are served. There is a lot of quality of life recovery. Group began in April, 2006.Most were working until the day of the their stroke.
